TR3™ Rake - Customer Reviews:

"I bought the TR3 Rake to use on my gravel driveway, which is over 1,300 feet long. All I do is hook it up to the 3 point on my tractor and pull it up and down the driveway. I don't have to worry about the spring thaws and fall rains causing my driveway to have ruts and potholes because the TR3 makes the driveway look brand new with very little work. It also works very well in my neighbor's riding arena because it digs in deeper than a standard harrow. It really is a great product. I just love my TR3!" Sue - Clark Lake, MI

"Owning a TR3™ Rake has made a remarkable difference maintaining my ranch. Not only is it easy to use but my gravel roads never have potholes! Take it from me, you don't want to have a farm or ranch without owning a TR3 Rake." Chris Cox - Mineral Wells, Tx

Pothole Removal 101:
“It’s all about your bottom”

In order to solve a problem you have to get to the bottom of it…and when it comes to potholes and washouts you can take that philosophy literally! ABI has known for years that to really eliminate a pothole you have to break the hard and compacted ridge that shapes the hole. To simply loosen less than an inch of material and then drag it into the hole simply won’t work. This is how most road and grading tools fix their roads. They fix them on the surface only and the results are a waste of time and effort.

If all you do to fix a pothole is drag loose material into it, then the next time a vehicle runs through the hole it will push the gravel right out. Within a week you will have your potholes back, so this doesn't seem to be a very effective process!

The proper process is to have a tool aggressive enough to rip through hard and compacted potholes…and you need to go deeper than 9/16th of an inch. Let’s get real and use a tool that has the capability of reaching the bottom of a pothole in three to four passes, not twenty to forty like other road and grading tools claim. (Do you really have that kind of time to waste?)

However, in a lot of cases it is important not to go too deep. Many roads are built with a stone-dust base pad and then topped off with gravel. You do not want to disturb that base. You will ruin your road! So it is imperative that you loosen to the bottom of the potholes but not penetrate your base material. For this reason you must have a tool that you can control. One that has substantial gauge wheels to control the depth of the ripping action. There is a fine line here. You need to be aggressive and yet safe at the same time. Gauge wheels are the answer.

Loosening to the bottom of the pothole does’t necessarily mean that you have to rip your entire road as deep as the pothole. (There is no need to fix what isn't broken) What you need to do is work an area surrounding the pothole so that once you have reached the bottom you have enough loose material to re-grade where the pothole use to be. Be careful not to change the grade of the road (unless it doesn't drain well) and be sure to use a tool that can re-establish the proper crown.

It’s a simple as this; if all you can do is pull loose gravel into a hard and compacted pothole you’re simply going to frustrate yourself and waste a lot of precious time. However, if you use the proper process and equipment you will actually get to the bottom of your pothole problems.

Mark the high & low spots with spray paint or other marking device. Then the tractor operator may begin grading. Mounted manual and fully automated laser systems will be available soon.

TR3 Hydraulic Toplink Hydraulic Top Link:
This option is a must for operators that will use the TR3 for land reclamation and landscaping applications. This cylinder takes the place of the traditional turn knuckle and gives the operator the ability to change the position of the TR3 without getting off the tractor and manually making adjustments.

Rail Blade Edge Blade:
The edge blade attaches by two bolts to the leveling blade. The shovel cuts into the built up material and pushes back grasses and weeds that begin to overgrow into gravel roads and ball diamonds. Also pulls displaced material back into the road. This eliminates hours of back breaking work.

Rail Buster Drag Mats:
Extremely heavy duty commercial grade drag mats mount behind the TR3 & add the perfect finishing touch to a ball diamond or any surface the operator needs to finesse. No rivets to pop out and ruin the entire mat; these ends are clinched steel for extreme durability. Also works great to press seed into soil, drag over pastures/lawns to help breakup manure and aeration cores, & finish off a driveway or trail.

Blade Teeth Blade Teeth:
The blade teeth are use mostly in the landscaping industry and mount below the leveling blade. They extend 2 inches below the grade. The teeth allow loose sand to flow through as rocks and debris to collect in the blade.

TR3 - Arena Sealer Profile Blades:
Profile blades temporarily replace the scarifiers and act as a cutting blade below the surface. They are used primarily for ball diamond infield grooming and trail maintenance. One of the amazing benefits of these blades is the ability to slice the root systems of weeds and grass to completely eliminate this growth from driveways, trails & infields!
